The journey
For travellers who have seen the postcards: a five-day route through Kerala's lesser-known heartland — the metal-mirror artisans of Aranmula, the elephant camps of Konni, the wild forests of Gavi and the meadows of Vagamon.
Day by day
Day 1 · arrival
Arrive and settle in at Aranmula on the Pamba river. Visit the workshops where the famous Aranmula Kannadi metal mirrors are made and the Parthasarathy Temple. In season, watch the snake-boat Jalotsavam races.
Day 2
Visit the Konni Aanakkude elephant shelter, ride the Adavi bowl boat on the river, and stand beneath Perunthenaruvi falls. After dark, a guided night safari.
Day 3
A full-day forest trip in the evergreen wilderness of Gavi, with boating at the Kochupampa dam — one of Kerala's quietest eco-tourism corners.
Day 4
Drive to the hills of Vagamon. Visit Paanchalimedu and wander the pine forests and meadows before your last night in the hills.
Day 5 · departure
Transfer to your departure point, carrying Kerala's best-kept secrets with you.
