The place
At 1,600 metres in the Western Ghats, Munnar is a carpet of tea that unrolls in every direction — hills stitched with plucking paths, mist that arrives on schedule each afternoon, and the blue flush of Neelakurinji flowers that paints the slopes once every twelve years.
Ride to Top Station for the views, meet the endangered Nilgiri Tahr at Eravikulam National Park, and boat on Mattupetty and Kundala lakes. From September to May the weather stays dry, cool and endlessly photogenic — and once every twelve years, the Neelakurinji flowers paint the slopes violet-blue.
— Cardamom in the air above five thousand feet.
